In this workshop
participants learn the team building skills needed to be members
of high performing work teams. They study the critical elements
of high performing teams, including the stages of team
development. Participants learn the advantages and disadvantages
of shared decision making and the value of building consensus.
They begin to explore real organizational problems and issues
in a team-based environment. They use role-plays and activities
to practice shared decision making techniques. Participants are
asked to complete several assessment instruments and an action plan.
Major Objectives
In this workshop participants will:
- Understand the role of a team member
- Define and discern individual reaction to change
- Identify and respond appropriately to team developmental stages
- Build trust and improve communication among team members
- Learn the advantages and disadvantages of shared decision making
- Apply consensus decision making
- Understand the effect of "Groupthink" on decision making
- Practice team decision making
Instructional Method
This is an interactive course which applies a variety of
instructional methods to engage the participants. These include
lectures, self-assessments, group discussion, video tapes,
role-plays, group exercises, and the integration of real
issues from the participants' work environments.
